Apple River Solar – Range, WI

By: Carter Martodam – Project Engineer I

Last June, our team broke ground on the Apple River Solar project in Range, Wisconsin—a major renewable energy development that’s now entering its final phase. Subcontracted by The Boldt Company, we’ve been proud to play a key role in helping bring this 100 MW solar farm to life.

Our scope of work included all site civil operations, from grading and access road construction to stormwater management. In addition to civil work, we were also tasked with pounding piles for the solar array installation, ensuring the structural foundation was ready for Boldt and their partners to move forward with panel placement. This included the installation of 10,949 array piles and 510 equipment piles, a critical part of ensuring long-term system stability.

In partnership with Westphal & Company, Inc., we handled 71,000 linear feet of DC trenching—supporting safe and efficient cable routing across the site.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our crew, the project remains on schedule, with completion expected by mid-June. It’s been a great opportunity to contribute to Wisconsin’s clean energy future and collaborate with top-tier contractors in the process.

Kudos to everyone involved for keeping safety, quality, and productivity at the forefront!
