PROJECT CARDINAL – DULUTH, MN

With the advantage of favorable winter conditions with warm temperatures and minimal snow this year, we’ve made significant headway on our latest project, Project Cardinal. This warehouse endeavor has been entrusted to us by our valued client, Ryan Companies, encompassing earthwork, site utilities, and wick drain installation. Situated adjacent to the ongoing Spirit Lake Remediation project, where we have been working since 2020, Project Cardinal shares similarities in challenges with unforeseen obstacles.

The scope of Project Cardinal spans various critical activities, including mass grading, substantial structural soil correction beneath the building pad, and the installation of wick drains and surcharges to accommodate the construction of a new 55,000-square-foot warehouse. Furthermore, we are tasked with the rerouting of existing public utility infrastructure, comprising sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main adjustments. On the private utilities front, our responsibilities entail the installation of sanitary, water main, and storm sewer systems. Throughout these endeavors, our team remains closely coordinated with on-site engineers to ensure meticulous adherence to geotechnical and environmental considerations of this historical site.

Heading the Project Cardinal initiative is our proficient field team, with Nate Alm serving as the General Superintendent, Mike Manders and Don Hawkins as the onsite Superintendents. Facilitating the project management aspect are Austin Blum and Mitch Osowski, ensuring seamless coordination and execution across all facets of the project.
