Costco Owatonna Distribution Center
When Costco made plans to service Minnesota through a new distribution center in Owatonna, it was the largest industrial project in the southern Minnesota city. Work on the 150-acre site included mass grading, soil corrections, parking lot construction, site utilities and excavation/backfill for the building footings. Frattalone also provided cement soil stabilization for the pavement areas and structural soil corrections for the almost 8-acre building pad. More than 900,000 CY of earth was moved in order to create the stormwater treatment ponds, parking lots and building. This fast-tracked industrial project required a 14-month completion schedule. The single-story, 360,000 SF distribution center employs more than 125 people full-time and 75 part-time.
