Walmart Import Distribution Center

This 2.6 million SF distribution center was built for Walmart to unload large cargo shipping containers as they arrive from overseas at the Port of Mobile, AL. Frattalone was selected to perform and manage all civil site work on the 400-acre site and self-perform 1.85 million CY of mass grading, soil corrections and 200,000 tons of aggregate base installation. In addition, the team managed erosion control, cement soil stabilization and utility subcontractors, overseeing all sanitary, storm and waterline installation.  

Located less than ten miles from the Gulf coast meant that weather, specifically rain, created huge challenges for the team. More than 50 inches of rain fell during the first five months of the project. Through dedication and teamwork, the project was still completed within the 14-month fast-tracked schedule.
